By-Jas Aeration
Surface aeration is a process that promotes the oxygenation of large fluid volumes. Oxygenation is most often necessary because impurities and bacteria present within the fluid (e.g. polluted water or sewage) demand and consume large quantities of oxygen. Consequently, there arises a need to re-establish the dissolved oxygen content of the liquid either to sustain fish and plant life in a river or lake or to accelerate treatment within a sewage processing system.
Surface aerators have, over the years, been the subject of intensive development, their chief application has been in the activated sludge process of sewage treatment.
Water is a major issue in a dry and remote country like Australia. We envision a future where access to clean water and reliable sanitation is a fixture in everyday life for all urban and remote communities.
The prime factor affecting their design is naturally the efficiency of the transfer of oxygen to water. Surface aerators attempt to develop the largest possible interfacial area between air and liquid so that oxygen can diffuse from the air into the liquid. In achieving this, it is necessary to prevent local build-up of oxygen concentrations by promoting good mixing with the water.

We work closely with you to develop a maintenance schedule that fits your needs and budget.
The Convenience of Floating Aerators
By-Jas floating aerators are a cost-effective means of ensuring that this action takes place at a point where it is most needed.
Conventional methods of aeration involve the use of reinforced concrete tanks or channels with fixed aerators supported by substantial bridges. In such circumstances, the civil engineering work represents a large proportion of the total cost of the installation. Floating aerators, however, can be moored at the required location and, being entirely self-supporting and integral, they require no ancillary equipment or structures.
Typical applications for floating aerators include oxygenation of harbors, rivers, canals, lakes, and reservoirs but they can equally well be used for sewage and effluent treatment in balancing tanks, in concrete aeration channels, (thus eliminating expensive bridgework) or in low-cost lagoon type aeration systems.
